The field application results show that potassium formate has a strong ability to restrain the hydration and dispersion expansion of clay, the returned cuttings are in the shape of small round particles, the inside is dry, the drilling fluid does not paste the vibration screen, does not run the mud, has the characteristics of strong inhibition, good water loss, good wall formation, good lubricity, and so on.
The use of potassium formate mud is conducive to improving the stability of the polymer, stabilizing the shale, reducing the damage to the rock formation, and ensuring that the drilling, completion and well maintenance are in the best working condition.
